Silent Sky
Book by Lauren Gunderson
Location: Waco Civic Theatre
One of the most beautiful show that I have designed. This project really challenged me to pushed my creativity and detail in both set and lighting. Space has always been a beautiful and magical thing so it was not hard to find inspiration for this show especially from the perspective of a real life scientist. The painting mostly resembling the night sky and the era accurate living set up for the characters with the wall of the sisters childhood home/Henrieta's apartment and the floor a gold star map across a teal and blue nebula plain. The lights reflected the stained glass of the church that she left to pursue science as well as a smattering of star light and galaxy projectors as the desks these ladies worked at seemingly floated through space throughout the show. All of the story ending finally at a 1/1 scale replica of the original telescope where they discovered countless stars, galaxies, and nebulas.
